The Brinsea Octagon 20 egg incubator is a very good model for the expert and novice a alike.

	Control system  The Octagon 20 Eco controls temperature with high accuracy using a proven proportional band electronic controller with easy tamper-proof adjustment. A flashing indicator light shows that the incubation temperature is being controlled.  Temperature is monitored with a purpose made liquid in glass thermometer.
	Cabinet The high quality egg incubator cabinet is entirely injection moulded from high grade yellow ABS which makes it tough and easy to clean. The base is double skinned and foam filled to insulate and reduce heat loss leading to lower electricity consumption and better temperature distribution. The top of the incubator is clear allowing good visibility of the eggs and chicks so you can watch what is going on.   The kids will love it.
	Humidity and ventilation Air is circulated by a long life computer grade fan which, coupled with a special designed grill with optimised air diffuser leads to extremely even air temperature throughout the egg chamber. Fresh air is controlled with a vent slider and humidity is provided by water in two reservoirs in the base of the cabinet.
	Egg Handling To accommodate eggs of different sizes the Octagon 20 Eco’s removable egg tray is supplied with dividers.   A user can position the dividers to suit their eggs and so maximise the number of eggs that can be held. Eggs as small as finches to as large as geese can be incubated and hatched,  A capacity guide for a range of popular species is given in the specification table. Eggs are turned during incubation as the whole incubator is rocked from side to side – hence the Octagonal cabinet ends. This can be done manually at least twice each day or turning is performed automatically if the incubator is used with the optional Auto-turn Cradle which turns the eggs hourly.

“I did not have to touch calibration dials – just put in the water, put a bunch of eggs in from my current flock (the rooster is active every day making sure everyone is fertile), plugged it in and waited 21 days. They started popping out on the 21st day. I put the eggs in on a Friday evening, and 4 chicks were waiting for me the third Friday evening when I came home from work… “

One reviewer mentioned that they wished they would have bought the model with the humidity pump for added insurance, however most say it is not needed in most climates.

This model is ready to use right out of the box.  Just add water, add the eggs and start incubating.  It can not get any easier than this.

“This thing absolutely KICKS BUTT!!! It was extremely easy. It had an automatic egg turner and essentially we did nothing but add water every few days.
10 out of 10 eggs hatched and now we have the cutest little baby pheasant chicks around. It has a mostly clear top so you can watch the chicks hatch… “

Why you may find others to be cheaper (especially the Styrofoam) I prefer something of better construction and much easier to clean. Simply, it does the job!
